Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is Opening August 29, 2019 at Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
The wait is over. Disney has announced the date that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening at Walt Disney World at Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.
At Disneyland Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on May 31, 2019.
On opening day guests will be able to hop aboard the Millennium Falcon, the most famous and fastest ship in the galaxy. You know it made the Kessel Run in only 12 parsecs. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is going to be awesome!
Later on this year, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open. It will be one of the most ambitious, immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined by Disney’s Imagineers. Guest will be put in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
There are height requirements on these two rides. For Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run guests must be at least 38″ tall to ride. For Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the requirement will be 40″ or taller.
Don’t plan on getting a FastPass anytime soon. When Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run opens FastPasses will not initially be available.
Capacity is limited so plan to wait a long time to get into Galaxy’s Edge. There was a 5-hour wait just for Frozen at Epcot so can you imagine the wait for Star Wars.
Thankfully, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be available during Extra Magic Hours. During Extra Magic Hours guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can spend extra time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios either in the morning or the evening.
Make sure you stay on property. I know Favorite Grampy will be staying at The Beach and Yatch club with the grandkids. Hollywood Studios is just a boat ride away.
I should book our reservations NOW because it’s going to be crazy!!
I better go update my Walt Disney World Crowd Calendar to PURPLE, which means packed, as in wall to wall guests.
